1. Select the appropriate input voltage range. Taking the AC input as an example, the commonly used input voltage specifications are 110V and 220V, so there are 110V, 220V AC switching, and universal input voltage (AC: 85V-264V). The input voltage specification should be selected according to the region of use.
2. Choose the right power. The switching power supply consumes a portion of the power when it is in operation and is released as heat. In order to increase the life of the power supply, it is recommended to use a model with more than 30% output power rating.
3. Consider the load characteristics. In order to improve the reliability of the system, it is recommended that the switching power supply work at 50%-80% load, that is, assuming that the power used is 20W, a switching power supply with an output power of 25W-40W should be selected.
4. If the load is a motor, a bulb or a capacitive load, when the current is high at the moment of starting, a suitable power source should be selected to avoid overload. If the load is a motor, consider the voltage backflow at shutdown.
5, in addition to the need to consider the working environment temperature of the power supply, and whether there is additional auxiliary cooling equipment, in the case of too high a ring temperature power supply needs to reduce the output. Refer to the derating curve of the ambient temperature versus output power.

Select various functions according to the application requirements: Protection functions: over voltage protection (OVP), over temperature protection (OTP), overload protection (OLP), etc. Application functions: signal function (normal power supply, power failure), remote control function, telemetry function, parallel function, etc. Special features: power factor correction (PFC), uninterruptible power (UPS)
7. Select the required safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) certification. According to the use situation, determine the required output voltage, current; power supply size, installation method and mounting hole position; there are several outputs, whether each output needs electrical isolation; input voltage range; according to the ambient temperature, determine the switching power supply drop Amount, power supply; whether certification and safety standards are required; cooling method of power supply: natural cooling or forced air cooling; electromagnetic compatibility standard.
8. Try to use the manufacturer's standard power supply, including standard size and output voltage. This way, the delivery time is faster; on the contrary, the special size and output voltage will increase the delivery time and increase the cost.
9. Choose a brand. As the heart of electronic equipment, switching power supply plays a vital role in the safe and reliable operation of electronic equipment. So choosing the brand's switching power supply is also very important.
